Welcome to Falmouth Heritage Renewal!
Falmouth Heritage Renewal is a United States 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization* and registered Jamaican non-profit charity dedicated to saving the historic, cultural, and architectural heritage of Falmouth, Jamaica.
Our mission is to preserve and restore the historic buildings of Falmouth, Jamaica while improving the lives of the people who live there.
In 2001, Christopher Ohrstrom founded Falmouth Heritage Renewal to work in partnership with the Falmouth Restoration Company. The Falmouth Restoration Company is a Jamaican non-profit charity with a mission to preserve the historic integrity of Falmouth.
Falmouth Heritage Renewal has taken a leadership role in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings in Falmouth. For nearly ten years, Dr. James Parrent has been our organization’s Executive Director. Dr. Parrent continues to advance Falmouth Heritage Renewal’s mission and vision in collaboration with Falmouth Restoration Company, the Parish of Trelawny, the Jamaican Government as well as several international organizations.
Our organization recently won the 2005 Global Vision Award for Cultural Preservation given by Travel+Leisure Magazine which commented, “its’ singular commitment to the city of Falmouth is what makes it so powerful…It is a bottom up, community based project.”
Preserving the Historic District of Falmouth provides improved housing for local residents, creates a climate for Heritage Tourism and economic vitality, and provides us with a “living lab” for the training of local artisans in restoration technology.
